DOCTORNAL POSITION OF
TWIN CITIES BAPTIST CHURCH

  • Scriptures: - We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired, infallible Word of God and that it is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We believe the King James Bible IS the Bible for the English Language - preserved by God, perfect and without error.
    I Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21

  • Sovereign God: - God is a Person, eternally existing, as a Trinity in unity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three persons and yet one God.
    Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 26:19; I Corinthians 8:6

  • Son of God: - Jesus Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, who became a sinless man in order to redeem us. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died and rose again and sits today at the right hand of God making intercession for us.
    John 1:1-15; Romans 8:31-34; Philippians 2:5-8; Colossians 1:11

  • Salvation: - Man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, bringing not only physical death, but also spiritual death on all men. It is only through the substitutionary death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross that we can be made alive. It is through simple faith, not works or religion, that we can have eternal, abundant life.
    Romans 3:10-23, 5:8-10, 6:23; I Corinthians 5:14-21; Ephesians 2:8-10

  • Service: - The local church is a group of believers baptized by immersion, united together for edification, exhortation and evangelism as commanded by Christ in the Scriptures. The purpose of the church is to glorify God, prepare the saints for the work of the ministry and to preach the Gospel to every creature.
    Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 1:6-14, 21-22; 4:11-16; I Timothy 3:15

  • Second Coming: - Jesus Christ Himself will soon come again in the air to catch up His Church and to judge and reward their service. The unbelievers that are left behind will go through a period called the Great Tribulation, after which Christ will return to the earth to set up His kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule. At the end of the Millennium, the unbelievers of all the ages will stand before the Great White Throne judgment and then be cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God for eternity, while the believers will enter into an eternity of joy in Heaven with the Lord.
    Matthew 29:29-42; I Thessalonians  4:16-18; Revelation 19:11-20:13

What is a Baptist?

The word Baptist simply means that we believe in...

Biblical authority in all matters of faith and practice.- We do not need visions, new revelations, tongues, or any other extra Biblical "messages from God". We just need to study and know the Revelation that He has already given.

Autonomy or self-governing power of the local church.- Our church is completely self-governed outside of any denominational organization. We operate as a church body as led by the Holy Spirit.

Priesthood of believers.-Every believer has equal and instant access to God. There is only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

Two ordinances.-We practice two simple ordinances.-Baptism and the Lord's Supper. These ordinances have no part in salvation and only serve as pictures and reminders of what Christ did for us.

Individual Soul Liberty.-Every man, woman, and child must choose personally to come to Christ for salvation through His shed blood.

Security of the believer.-Salvation is a gift from God that cannot be taken away. Nothing can separate the believer from eternal life in Christ and he can have full assurance of Heaven as his future home.

Two offices within the local church.-Our Church has two Biblical offices of leadership-Pastors and Deacons. It is the responsibility of the Pastor to serve the church by leading, teaching, and overseeing the church. It is the responsibility of the deacons to serve the church family through assisting with care and provision for special needs.

Sseparation of church and state.-The state should have no power to intervene in the free expression of religious liberty. Separation doesn't mean that Christians should not influence the state but that the church should not control the state nor should the state control the church.
